First use of my acrylic paints for nails. I following Robin Moses' design here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB7PkA4ye-4
I used Billie Cosmetics Gold as my base and Wet n Wild big glitter polish on top of it for a little extra glitter then drew with my new Crafter's Acrylic paints. Merry Christmas to me. I learned my white is a bit thick so next time I use it I will water it down a bit. Enjoyed painting with a paint brush on my nails for a change. Looking forward to doing more acrylic nail art.

Matte
So, both Liz and I had a matte top coat with us so I decided to see which was better. I painted my nails Rimel 60 Seconds 615 Night Before as well as a new polish for Christmas from my mom essence Colour & Go pink (it doesn't have a name) and top coated with both NYC matte me crazy and essie matte about you. They both really matted down the colour equally well. If I'd put a 2nd coat on my nails it would have looked better. Yes, I was being lazy. In my defense I had just just done two manis and a little girl pedi so I didn't feel the urge to work too hard on my own nails) As it was, the effect was still pretty good. I used a toothpick for the small pink dots and the nail polish brush for the large purple dots.
Little Girl Rainbow Toes
We also had to paint little girl toenails. The orange polish wasn't very thick, or maybe I should say the pigment wasn't very thick. They mostly survived the running around done after they were painted. This polish set is from Diana from The Color Workshop they don't have names. Under the polishes is a nail dryer.
Little Girl Crackle
I discovered two things painting the nails of my niece yesterday.
1. Not much nail polish is used for itty bitty little nails.
2. Little girls don't stand still so you use more nail polish then you'd expect to painting itty bitty little nails.
She wanted her nails to look like the crackle on the polish bottle. I think it turned out nicely. I used a base of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails 850 Pumping Iron and a polish my friend Lara gave me from a dollar store in Toronto: 2012 Cracked Nail Polish Sungod.

Electric Blue Crackle
Troy picked out this lovely blue (Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Teal Steel 670) to go with the black crackle (OPI Black Shatter NLE53). I forgot to warn him before I started painting the nails that it requires about 6 coats to cover the nail sufficiently. We just did his thumbs. First ever man-mani. LOL
Double Green French Mani
Liz picked some nice greens out for a french manicure with accent nails. I did the tips free hand. They turned out really nice, but then she has really nice nails. We used Avon Green Goddess and Avon Lime Splatter. She didn't like the stark contrast between the two so she put a coat of Avon Pale Gold (suggested by her hubby Troy) which muted and blended them a bit and worked nicely to create the effect she wanted.

Reindeer on Chrome by Robin Moses
I found this simple design from my favourite nail art wizard Robin Moses. I think I captured it pretty well. I used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Pumping Iron 850, my white nail art pen a red and brown for the noses and a black for the eyes. I put the noses and eyes on using a tooth pick for a more accurate image since my nails are rather thin. The last picture is the original design by Robin Moses found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fETorc1bddM

String of Christmas Lights
Well I finally changed my french manicure into a string of Christmas lights. I guess for a first try it's not too bad. I think I'll enjoy when I have some acrylic paints and a paint brush to better be able to work on more detailed nail art.

French tip with gold trim
I began with a french tip using a piece of tape across the nail (I was feeling lazy). When I took the tape off it was still kind of messy. The way to clear this up and add a little extra fancy is to use a striper and add some extra bling to the french tip. In my case I used Quo by ORLY Glittering Gold 59704. It goes on smooth and oh so glittery. I plan to turn this into something more complicated tomorrow but thought this looked good enough to post.
Candy Canes
I decided to make another right hand easy nail design today. I painted my nails two coats of Maybelline 80 Red Riot Creme (one coat leaves the tips a lighter colour and I want the nails uniform) and then took my Quo by ORLY white striper and added a thick white line and a few thinner ones to create the effect of a candy cane. My candy canes are only red and white as I don't have a green striper. In the final pictures you can see that I also added some dollar store glitter to my nails after adding a top coat (so they'll stick to the nails). This added a little something extra. The first picture looks fine as it is in case you don't have any glitter.

Christmas Trees
This week I did my right had with Christmas trees. These are really really easy with a tip from cutepolish here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPqSkjAxkjg to make the shape of the tree with tape. The tree design came from cutepolish here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqKpAvrj3ZI.
I used a base of Billie cosmetics Gold, then after a day of drying (just make sure it is completely dried or the gold will come off with the tape) I applied the tape and used Rimmel 60 seconds 830 Camouflage for the tree and while keeping the tape on the nails I added some "lights" using a Wet n wild glitter polish that doesn't appear to have a name but you can see it in the pictures. It has circular sparkles that are different colours. Perfect for my Christmas tree!

Snowflakes
Snowflakes on my left hand. I started with a base of a light blue from Misslyn 850. It's a dollar store brand my sister bought me years ago. It's a little thick (would work well with a nail stamper) but still works well. Then I added the snowflakes using 3 intersecting lines with my Quo by ORLY white nail striper.

Red with Gold Crackle
Going out to my first Christmas dinner event. Decided to go with a very easy design and break in a crackle polish I bought a while ago (yup on sale for $5). You don't need any special skills or gadgets just a normal polish over your base coat and a crackle/shatter polish to go on top once the base colour is completely dry. I used Wet 'n' Wild 412 Burgundy Frost and Nicole by OPI Gold Texture which is a crackle polish and lets the bottom colour "crack" through.

purple with starbursts
So, I tried to do a water marble but I think my colours were too dark
and it didn`t turn out. Also my polishes weren`t spreading properly.
So I took out my OPI Neon colours and painted them purple (OPI Seriously Purple), then added
the red (Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Diamonds and Rubies 360) dot but it needed more so I put the little white (Quo by Orly White striper) star bursts. This
isn`t me re-creating someone else`s design, just me unsure what I want
to do with my nails.

galaxy nails by cutepolish
I loved these when I first saw them, but didn't feel confident enough to give them a try. I used Wet 'n Wild 456D (it's a sparkly black and since this is outer space...), the white from an old french manicure set Hart & Healthy PROfessional Solutions, essence 95 wanna be your sunshine, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails with Nylon Simply Strawberry, Wet 'n' Wild 415A Denim Chrome and added some sparkles at the end with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear 180 Disco Ball and followed cutepolish's instructions from here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EMgt4_jW5U

poppies for November 11th
It may only be November 4th but I shall wear my poppy proudly until November 11th on my nails as well as over my heart. Made with Sally Hanson Diamond Strength Diamonds and Rubies, a no name yellowy green and one of my many black polishes.
burgundy and gold V tip
I've been cutting my nails with a straight line instead of a curved line. This gives me a bit more room for designs and opens up some new possibilities with french tips. This one turned out quite well and would look amazing for Christmas. It also goes with a sweater I have: burgundy with a few gold buttons on the shoulder. :-) I used Avon Golden Wine and Quo by Orly Glittering Gold nail striper
